What if you are pushed into a situation where you have very little time to think or buy a birthday gift to your boyfriend or someone who is dear to you?
Few days ago, I came across such a situation where one customer contacted me and requested for a painting of her boyfriend, to deliver in ONE day. She was so worried and started explaining that, she made a surprising plan for his birthday, but unfortunately that failed at the last moment.
So she started surfing the internet for the best gift that can get in a single day and found commissioning a hand painted portrait painting would be a good idea. (Hmm, yes! She has chosen the best gift idea even at the last moment. Because a hand painted portrait painting express your emotion and true love to the receiver. Converting a favorite photo of your loved ones to a painting is a heart touching gift and the memory last for years). She has contacted few more artists prior to me but none has agreed to make the portrait in such a short time.
On understanding the scenario, I have agreed to make the portrait painting and also to deliver at the address where she gifts it her boyfriend. So, the order was placed for an acrylic portrait painting on an 8” x 12” canvas.
I have worked whole the night as well the next half day on the painting and given some time to dry it. I have varnished and delivered at 6 PM exactly at the decided time.
The customer was there with her boyfriend and upon seeing the painting; she was stunned and happy to get such a nice portrait in very short notice. The receiver was so thrilled with the painting gift. They also wanted to place an order again with both of their photo. She thanked me so many times for the portrait and specially for making it happen when she has no hope left.
In my 18 years of experience, I have seen so many people in different situations, having very less time to choose the best gift and contacted me either for a custom drawing or for a custom painting. There are even times; I made sketches with an hour for the customers. There is no other gift that can replace a hand painted portrait, which can be cherished for years.
Finally, what is important to me as an artist is value my customer’s money, to put 100% efforts to every artwork that I do and give the best.
At the same time, it gives a very good feeling for an artist when his/her customer is fully satisfied.
