Discussion of different kinds of drawings

1. Life drawing

Life drawing is also called as still life drawing. Before the invention of photography, many classical artists, who were concerned with realism in art, started studying still lives because they didn’t move like human figures or changing light effects of landscape paintings. Still life drawing refers to a special kind of picture, mostly inanimate (Not living) objects. These objects were chosen for a specific reason and arranged in a certain way. Some objects of still life drawing include vase of flowers, bowl of fruits, furniture, plants, dishes and cups etc.

Mostly, still lives are organized for their varieties in materials contrast, varieties in forms, varieties in textures though there will be unity in the composition according to the artists’ color choice and the value he/she used.

Various purposes are there  in still life art work. If work with colors the purpose is different, if we work with pencil the purpose of still life drawing is different. When working with colors, we can able to understand how the colors act and light bounces, as well how the colors arrangements can give greater mood to the painting. Whereas the still life pencil drawing help us understand the shapes, how they interact with our eyes. Pencil still life drawing is the best option to understand proportions and how this make difference between good drawing and a master drawing.

5. Perspective Drawing:

Perspective is fundamental when it comes to drawing successfully. In graphic arts perspective is the representation of an image as it is seen by the eyes, generally on flat surface. It allows to create essence of space to draw three dimensionally on a two dimensional plane. Before the discovery of perspective, artists were struggling to depict the 3 dimensional world in their artwork.

Then the artist Filippo Brunelleschi, have conducted an experiment which led to discovery of linear perspective. This famous experiment involved using mirrors to sketch the Florence pop history, in perfect perspective. Realizing the all parallel lines which converge to a single line, he mathematically calculate the scale of objects within a painting in order to make them appear realistic. From then this method was studied and applied by many artists.

Due to an understanding of perspective, artists could now produce convincing scenes in their artworks. In present era, perspective is imperative in perceive of learning how to draw is something that we cannot over looked.

Perspective can be complex and sometimes it can be overwhelming for emerging artists.

6. Geometric Drawing:

Geometric is used in construction fields specially, which actually requires specific dimensions. Measured styles, sections and true sides are represented through geometric drawing.

7. Diagrammatic drawing

When you document concepts and ideas on paper through diagrams, it is called as diagrammatic drawing. Diagrammatic drawings are the design process for instant ideas.
